Peter Howard reports.......
Well, despite a weather forecast predicting rain at 15.00hrs, 8 vessels dropped anchor in Cliff Reach for the season’s inaugural raft up and what a convivial affair it turned out to be and very reminiscent of raft ups of old. And it didn’t rain!
Peg Leg and Foo anchored and hosted Evie Bee, Jane and Daniel’s Ed Dubois designed latest yacht. Guy Trench’s lovely Marex paired with Sky Hunter 2. Jacaranda of Burnham moored solo and Mussette reviewed the fleet on a flying visit.
It’s funny that, no matter how long you have been in the Club, raft ups introduce you to new faces as well as catching up with old friends, and was certainly the case for Paula and me. For us, it was great meeting and chatting with friends, old and new, aboard Foo for the first time.
Our thanks to Bob Skeens and the RBOD class for organising a very social raft up.
A reminder of our next event, 3rd/4th June, which is the RBOD long distance race to Tollsbury, where cruising boats,(sail and motor), escort the RB’s to Tollesbury and back, offering assistance if required. After last year, and their demonstration of excellent seamanship by sailing right up to their berths, it’s doubtful if assistance will be required.
This event is not to be missed.
