RBODs to Tollesbury July 2022

Forthcoming Events

Firstly I would bring to your attention the cruise to St. Katharine Docks that Russ and Liz Cashel are leading, commencing 29th July, and anyone interested in participating should contact Russ through the Club. This is an exciting cruise right to the heart of London. St. Katharine’s is a buzzy place with all of London’s attractions close to hand. I’ve no doubt that Russ will introduce you to Cotes by the dock, an excellent venue to eat and discuss the trials and tribulations of cruising!

The next event to mention is escorting/chaperoning the RBOD’S to Tollsbury, 30th to 31st July. Now this is not for the faint-hearted, but if you have a yacht, motorboat or anything that floats, and feel up for it, it is not to be missed.

I have done it on a couple of occasions. I remember accompanying them to West Mersea with dear old Jan Wise  (after which I believe we were all banned from the WMYC?), and then Osea Island, (and all that entailed)!!  For  those who haven’t attended before, we merely have to tag along giving timely and useless tactical advice to those who will listen and hand out Paracetamol on the way home. Although they have also been known to take a glass of wine to supplement the previous night’s consumption!  As is usual with the RBOD fleet you can be sure it will be loads of fun.

Any boats wishing to attend, and all are welcome, should make their berth reservations direct with Tollesbury Marina (tel. 01621 869202) two days before arrival, and let Mel Lewis know (mob.07711 217323) if you wish to attend the eating arrangements on Saturday evening.

There are also some “Friends of the RBODs” who are boatless and would appreciate a ride around with the escorts, so if you are coming and have room for an extra  passenger, please let Mel  know.
