CRUISE TO HEYBRIDGE BASIN 22nd to 25th May
Here is the proposed itinerary for the cruise to Heybridge Basin departing Burnham, Friday 22nd May, 2020. High Water Burnham 13.20hrs.
As it is a mid day high water I shall be taking the Ray Sand Channel route to the Blackwater and staying overnight at West Mersea and having an evening meal at the West Mersea Y.C. They have deep water pile moorings and a launch service operating up to 22.00hrs. The next day, Saturday, we will be taking the morning flood tide up to Heybridge and locking in. Then, in the evening, eating ashore in one of the local pubs. Sunday (after such a gruelling trip) to be a lay day taking in the local scene. At this stage I am undecided as to whether we return Monday or Tuesday, much will depend on the weather. Any participating members may want to make their own decision as to when they return. As we have to lock out at high water, and due to our slow speed, we will probably stop at Bradwell overnight on the way home rather than plugging it out to the Swin / Wallet Spitway. I may reconsider my options nearer the time.
Of course all is subject to weather. Gone are the days of bearing our bosoms to the cruel sea!
